The exceptionally big house, whose halls echo the decadence of times past, was originally a convent transformed in the XVIII century into a residential country house and enlarged in the XIX century. If not rented to holiday guests it is the summer residence of the present owners, two countesses, belonging to a family past with an important role in the historic events of the Italian history. The interiour of Villa della Marchesa has been completely renovated down to the last detail while maintaining its original charm and character. Every stone was picked up, dusted off and put back where it belonged.

Villa Romo is a stylish rural villa set on a ridge with far reaching views all around. The peaceful location is private and not overlooked and with 5000 metres (1 acre +) of land, it has a spacious outlook. Comares, a hilltop village, can be seen from the terrace and its traditional bar/restaurants/shops are a 10 minute drive. The accommodation is suitable for a large family or group of friends sharing. Built on one level it is child friendly and ideal for active elderly persons. Well behaved dogs are welcome (outside) and a secure run is provided to the rear of the villa. Villa Romo is an excellent holiday location all year. Southern Andalucia gets over 300 days of sunshine typically. The Villa is equipped with electric fans in all rooms during the summer; these, together with shutters and blinds on all windows, help keep the rooms cool. The lounge/dining room features a brick fireplace for cosy winter warmth. Electric radiators are also supplied in all rooms. Comfortable all year

We had a great time and found the villa and surroundings even better than expected in advance! We were 7 grown ups and two small children, plenty of room. Nice pool - beautiful views! Lovely long evenings spent outside. Good kitchen and barbeque - we ate in most of our meals. Peaceful. Pretty small mountain villages to visit. Thanks to Carl and Maria for excellent service, and for helping us out when we needed a doctor for our son! We found this an excellent spot to spend time with family away from the big "tourist- machines", found the area genuine and exotic! Enjoyed getting lost along those mountain roads. Bring GPS.

Best Holiday I have ever had

Review Submitted: torsdag, 12 juni 2014 16:10
We spent two weeks in the villa in September 2010, and without a doubt it was the best and most relaxing holiday I have had. If you want a quite holiday in the sun away from it all I can fully recommend this villa. Whilst the furnishings and fittings are not the best we have experienced they are of a high standard and were quite suitable for our needs. The mountain location with the senic views and tranquility along with the swimming pool are what really made this holiday for us. All the sun terraces including the pool area are sucluded and not overlooked at all which just added to the relaxation and it was just great to chill out, read books and play in the pool without any distractions. Apart from the occasional car and a few dogs barking from the other side of the valley all that can be heard is the birds and the bees ( I mean wasps). If you want a holiday with shops, clubs and activities then this is probably not for you, if like us, you are seeking relaxation and no outside distractions then this villa is perfect. The only excitment we had was the mountain roads which are an experience in themselves, My hire car was a Mini Cooper and the twisting mountain roads were daunting at first but soon brought out a Jeremy Clarkson side of me I didnt know I had. frank h. Winter at Villa Romo

Review Submitted: torsdag, 12 juni 2014 16:10

We stayed for 9 weeks. It was wonderful. You can see from the photographs that this villa is a gem. The location is amazing and the verandah is a suntrap for the winter months when the sun is low. Layout and facilities were great, and we felt very snug at night as the temperature dropped dramatically. The broadband and communication systems all worked quickly. The property was clean and well maintained, and if we had any problem it was quickly and effectively solved by Carl and Maria. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to friends and relations. The walking was splendid, through avenues of flowering almond trees We also enjoyed the local restaurants and bars. In particular El Molino del Abuelo in Comares and El Molino in Los Ventorros. Granada, Cordoba and Malaga are all easy and rewarding day trips
